Associate Manager Software Engineering

About the Role

We're looking for an Associate Manager Software Engineering to join our team and lead the development of innovative software solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced software engineer ready to step into a leadership role, mentoring talented engineers while driving technical excellence and delivering training to military personnel.

• Single UK national only (no dual nationality)
• Must be eligible for enhanced security clearance
• Ability to deliver training courses with military personnel on applications we support

What You'll Do

• Lead & Mentor: Support and guide a team of software engineers, providing technical direction, code reviews, and career development
• Deliver Training: Conduct training courses with military personnel on supported applications
• Drive Results: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure successful project delivery
• Foster Innovation: Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration
• Manage Projects: Oversee timelines, resources, and budgets while proactively identifying and mitigating risks
• Shape Strategy: Contribute to software engineering strategy through technology assessments and strategic discussions

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Single UK national (British passport with no dual nationality)
• Eligible for enhanced security clearance
• Ability to deliver training courses with military personnel
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of software engineering experience in industry
• 2+ years in a similar leadership or mentoring role
• Proficiency in one or more software languages and development methodologies
• Strong programming, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for training delivery
• Strong organizational and time management skills

Desirable:

• Advanced degree in a related field
• Relevant certifications or training
• Previous experience working with military or defence sector clients
