About the Role
We're looking for an Associate Manager Software Engineering to join our team and lead the development of innovative software solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced software engineer ready to step into a leadership role, mentoring talented engineers while driving technical excellence and delivering training to military personnel.
Critical Security Requirements:
- Single UK national only (no dual nationality)
- Must be eligible for enhanced security clearance
- Ability to deliver training courses with military personnel on applications we support
What You'll Do
- Lead & Mentor: Support and guide a team of software engineers, providing technical direction, code reviews, and career development
- Deliver Training: Conduct training courses with military personnel on supported applications
- Drive Results: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure successful project delivery
- Foster Innovation: Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration
- Manage Projects: Oversee timelines, resources, and budgets while proactively identifying and mitigating risks
- Shape Strategy: Contribute to software engineering strategy through technology assessments and strategic discussions
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Single UK national (British passport with no dual nationality)
- Eligible for enhanced security clearance
- Ability to deliver training courses with military personnel
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of software engineering experience in industry
- 2+ years in a similar leadership or mentoring role
- Proficiency in one or more software languages and development methodologies
- Strong programming, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for training delivery
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Desirable:
- Advanced degree in a related field
- Relevant certifications or training
- Previous experience working with military or defence sector clients
