Business Analyst – Application Transformation

About the Role

DXC Technology is growing its UK team and is looking for experienced Business Analysts with a proven track record in application modernisation programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-impact team helping clients transform legacy systems into modern, scalable, cloud-native solutions.

You'll initially join an Application Modernisation programme, working collaboratively with architects, developers, and infrastructure teams to assess, document, and deliver transformation outcomes. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your scope across a wider range of transformation programmes.

Please note: Due to customer requirements, successful applicants must be eligible for high-level UK Security Clearance. Roles may involve travel to DXC and customer sites.

What You'll Do

• Identify and document legacy applications in scope for modernisation and transformation
• Working with Architects, Aanalyse application portfolios to determine transformation priorities and approaches
• Bridge the gap between business needs and technical transformation solutions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document technical and business requirements
• Work with solution architects, cloud architects, and technical leads to define target state architectures and migration strategies
• Document application transformation roadmaps — including sequencing, dependencies, and business requirements for agreed approach
• Support application configuration, data migration, testing, deployment, and post-implementation reviews
• Identify and document application issues and coordinate with development and infrastructure teams to resolve issues
• Maintain comprehensive documentation which may include application inventories, architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, RTMs, migration plans, and system specifications
• Assist with change management and technical training for transformed applications
• Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practices

What You'll Bring

Essential Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in application modernisation programmes
• Proven experience with legacy-to-cloud migrations
• Understanding of application architecture — ability to understand technical components, integrations, and dependencies and be able to document them for business needs.
• Experience assessing applications for business impact and defining transformation approaches
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerisation, and modern application patterns
• Proficiency in requirements gathering, technical analysis, data analysis, and stakeholder management
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, or similar
• Good understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies
• Familiarity with a range of application types (Enterprise, Custom, Packaged) and transformation patterns (lift-and-shift, re-platforming, refactoring)
• Strong business documentation skills — eg RTMs, architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

• BA certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, ISEB, or equivalent
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Experience with transformation tools (migration assessment tools, application discovery tools)
