At DXC Spain we are looking for a Oracle System Administrator to join our great team.
Requirements:
- Official training in a technological field (Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Higher Vocational Training in IT, or similar).
- High level of English.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience administering Oracle databases in production environments.
- Solid knowledge of Installation, configuration, and administration of Oracle Database (preferably 12c, 19c or higher).
- Management of table spaces, users, roles, privileges, and security policies.
- Backup & Recovery with RMAN and/or equivalent tools.
- Use of Oracle Enterprise Manager / Cloud Control or similar monitoring tools.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
- Ability to analyze and resolve database incidents within limited timeframes (service-oriented).
- Sufficient documentation skills to write basic technical procedures (operation manuals, checklists, etc.).
- Knowledge of:
- Oracle Data Guard, duplication and high-availability strategies.
- Oracle RAC and clustered environments (if applicable to your setup).
- Performance tuning (AWR, ADDM, indexes, execution plans).
Desired Requirements:
- Experience with monitoring tools: Oracle Enterprise Manager, Prometheus, Zabbix, Nagios, Dynatrace, etc.
- Task automation (shell scripting, Python, Ansible, etc.).
- Patch management (PSU, RU, security patches) and Oracle version upgrades.
- Valuable certifications:
- 1Z0-1072-21 OCI Architect Associate 2021
- 1Z0-1085-23 OCI Fundamentals 2023
- 1Z0-082 Oracle Database Administration I 19c 2023
- 1Z0-083 Oracle Database Administration II 19c 2023
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (development, systems, security, operations).
Tasks:
- Oracle database administration in Unix environments:
- Installation, configuration, and controlled startup/shutdown.
- Management of users, roles, privileges, and security policies.
- Database platform management:
- Applying patches and version upgrades.
- Managing space, growth, and capacity.
- Configuring instance parameters and basic optimization.
- Backup & Recovery:
- Defining, executing, and monitoring backup and restore policies.
- Performing regular restoration tests and contingency planning.
- Monitoring and performance:
- Using monitoring tools for proactive issue detection.
- Performance analysis and basic tuning of queries and structures.
- Incident management:
- Diagnosing and resolving critical incidents, including data loss or service outages.
- Supporting other teams (development, support) in troubleshooting database-related issues.
- Documentation and procedures:
- Creating and maintaining operational technical instructions, manuals, and checklists.
- Documenting changes, configurations, and architectures in corporate knowledge management systems.
