Job Description:

As a Trainee Eligibility Officer, you will support the assessment of workers compensation claims by assisting in determining whether claims should be accepted or declined. Your primary focus will be working non-complex Workers Compensation claims and preparing the claim for transition to a Case Managers for ongoing management. You will learn how Pre-Injury Average Weekly Earnings (PIAWE) is calculated and assist with general administrative tasks associated with the Eligibility position.
 

This role is well-suited to someone developing their knowledge of relevant legislation and building strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills. You will work within established guidelines to contribute to team and WorkSafe objectives.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Some experience or exposure to claims assessment, administration, legal support, or a related field

  • Foundational knowledge (or willingness to learn) of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation & Compensation Act 2013 and associated regulations

  • Understanding of the WorkCover scheme (preferred but not essential)

  • Ability to adapt to change and follow processes and guidelines

  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy when dealing with others

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Exposure to case management systems such as ACCtion or Novus (or similar) is advantageous
