Job Description:

You will be part of the SAP technical team providing support and development activities for DXC’s client. On a day-to-day basis, you will work on business-critical SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP systems, designing and delivering custom applications and extensions in line with clean core principles favouring side-by-side and in-app extensibility on SAP BTP over classic on-stack modifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build extensions using the ABAP RESTful Programming Model (RAP) and CDS views, following clean core and modern extensibility guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain Fiori/UI5 applications, including Fiori Elements apps, using SAP Business Application Studio.

  • Assess, design and implement user-requested changes (Change Management), favoring BTP-based extensions over core modifications where possible.

  • Analyse and provide solutions (workarounds, fixes, root-cause analysis) to end-user tickets (Incident Management).

  • Build and expose OData v4 services via RAP; maintain legacy OData v2 services where still required.

  • Configure and maintain the Fiori Launchpad (spaces & pages model).

  • Develop integrations using SAP BTP Integration Suite, REST/SOAP APIs, and the SAP API Business Hub.

  • Support key user extensibility (SAP Fiori Elements/Adaptation Projects, custom fields/logic) as an alternative to developer extensibility, where appropriate.

  • Participate in S/4HANA implementation, migration (Brownfield/Greenfield/Bluefield), and clean core assessment projects.

  • Handle other relevant tasks within the scope of SAP support services for the client.

Experience Required

  • 4+ years of experience in SAP development (ABAP, ABAP OO, and/or Fiori/UI5)

  • Experience with the ABAP RESTful Programming Model (RAP) and CDS view development (or strong motivation/aptitude to transition from classic ABAP)

  • Hands-on experience with SAP Business Application Studio (SAP Web IDE experience is a plus but no longer sufficient on its own)

  • Working knowledge of OData v4 (OData v2 knowledge still valuable for legacy support)

  • Experience with SAP BTP, including the ABAP Environment and/or SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry environment

  • Understanding of clean core principles and the SAP extensibility framework (key user vs. developer/side-by-side extensibility)

  • Experience with Fiori Elements and/or freestyle SAPUI5 development

  • Fiori Launchpad configuration, including the spaces & pages model

  • Knowledge of REST and SOAP API technologies; exposure to SAP BTP Integration Suite / API Management is a plus

  • Experience with SAP ABAP OO development

Nice to Have

  • SAP S/4HANA implementation or migration project experience

  • Exposure to SAP Cloud Application Programming (CAP) Model (Node.js or Java)

  • Familiarity with Git-based development and CI/CD

  • SAP certifications relevant to BTP, ABAP Cloud, or Fiori/UX

Personal Profile/Attributes

  • The ability to understand client requirements and advise them on the best solutions using SAP Technology

  • Experience/Knowledge across numerous industry sectors

  • Good communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

  • Team Player and ability to be flexible and adaptable

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and problem solver

  • Willingness to continuously upskill as SAP's development stack evolves (ABAP Cloud, RAP, BTP services)
